Art Appreciation is a three-unit course that develops students' ability to appreciate, analyze, and critique works of art. Through interdisciplinary and multimodal approaches, this course equips students with a broad knowledge of the practical, historical, philosophical, and social relevance of the arts in order to hone students' ability to articulate their understanding of the arts. The course also develops students} competency in researching and curating art as well as conceptualizing, mounting, and evaluating art productions. The course aims to develop students’ genuine appreciation for Philippine arts by providing them opportunities to explore the diversity and richness and their rootedness in Filipino culture.

What is your idea about the coverage of this course? What do you already know about the topics in this course?
My Brain is loaded with a lot of ideas about this course, I mean who can live without art!!! right? I knew that we're gonna do painting. The coverage of this course would tackle about art concepts, forms, and styles to be able to fully understand the meaning of art. In this course I believe that we would be able to not only appreciate but do our own arts. By being a by the book type of person I have read the course syllabus of this course so I expect a lot of fun with this course; soap sculpture, visit museums, painting and especially architecture. As an Architecture student major, I already knew a lot about it, from Egyptian Ziggurats to our Modern Contemporary Houses, art has a big role with the influence to Architecture.
2. Is there a topic that you are especially interested in for this course? What skills or competencies do you want to learn or develop at the end of this course?
Aside from architecture, a topic that I am especially interested in for this course is about Sculpture and Performing Arts. I think sculpture would be another challenge for me, frankly because I have a sweaty hands which I also encountered as a test while I'm taking up architecture. While performing arts is also interesting because I believe most of the performing arts category would be needing a collaborative cooperation. An art that provides a better optimum result with the help of another persona. At the end of this course I would like to develop all of my skills related to this course because all of the things that I would learn here would be my tool to be a Known Architect and Artist someday. Enhancing skills and talent makes the Lord, our Creator happy. Also, because with this we would be able to share our knowledge and wisdom to other people and pass it to the next generation.
